Redemption Continues

on a less political note, but no less important, two of my favorite things experienced a little bit of redemption over the weekend.

First of all Daniel Craig is an awesome Bond so all the people who were criticizing him before there was even a trailer can suck it. As a matter of fact, Craig might beat out Brosnan for my number two spot on my favorite bonds (that is not conclusive, however). The only part of this story that did not resound in the sounds of redemption was that Casino Royale was not the highest grossing movie of the weekend. If it had been beaten out by Borat maybe I could except it, but alas it was the damn penguins which everybody loves so much. Happy Feet made $42 some million, while Casino only made $40 some million. I am not worried however. I think this bond movie is not simply a good action movie but a great movie all around, so it will have staying power and word of mouth should make it loads of money. I want it to make money so the next bond is just as savage and entertaining without the camp and ridiculousness that the bond will eventually get back to.

The other bit of redemption goes to the San Francisco 49ers, (and the Faithful) because they beat last years NFC superbowl team, the Seahawks. Not only did they beat the Seahawks, but with that will the 9ers are one game out of first place in their division, and have won three games in a row, which they have not done since the Mariucci era. So thank you 49ers for letting us have a little hope for some great games in the future. However, this landmark win does not seem have convinced anyone else in the media surrounding the NFC that the 49ers are worth a damn. I did not see any talk of the 49ers on ESPN tonight, even though this was a pretty big upset. Give the 49ers some respect. We need better announcers and camera crews on gameday and it would be nice to continually see highlights of Frank Gore on one of this over 20 yard runs.

I am going to bed. Namasté

Redemption

The last week has been a week of redemption for American culture. The Democrats took back the House and the Senate, which is awesome. Its great because now maybe the government will actually do something productive, like start bringing the troops home, start doing something about global warming, and look into all the crazy shit that the Republicans have been doing the last six years. The redemption of the Democrats is not only important to me because there are not longer only crazy people with governmental power, but also because it means the U.S.A. is not entirely insane. If the American people had put Republicans back into any seat of power they would have to be crazy, with everything that has happened. I will just mention the resent events; Ted Haggard pays for gay sex and buys meth, October was the most deadly month for US troops in Iraq, much of the military was calling for Rumsfeld to resign, the Speaker of the House knew that Mark Foley was sending dirty messages to under-age paiges, and that is the most resent stuff that comes off the top of my head.

Another person who received some sort of redemption in the last week was my homie Tommy Cruise. When Paramount ended their deal with Tom, because he is crazy, it was all over the News. But now Tom and his producing partner Paula Wagner have received complete control of United Artists. Of late this production company has not made that many movies of notice. However its history is prominent, it was started by Charlie Chaplin, and was the first studio to be controlled by the actual artist and not large studio executives.

So everyone should be happy that two of my favorite entities have received Redemption. I suggest you sing a little song, no not the one by Bob Marley, but one that goes like this. "Won the Senate, won the House. Won the Senate, won the House" Repeat.

Voter Guide

1A - I voted No because it restricts gas taxes to only be used for transportation funding, and that seems like a good idea, until there is a recession and all kinds of social programs have to get cut back because they cannot use any gas tax moneys.
1B - I voted No on this because I believe that there is too much emphasis on improving infastructure for automobiles and not enough to encourage other types of transportation.
1C - Houseing for lower income people seems like a good idea. Especially because most of the development would go into under-used city lots near buses and bart (in the bay area). This is a more sustainable way of developing.
1D - I voted yes because it give money to all public education for infastructure improvements. Living on a UC campus I know that there can never really be enough money in this department. I also believe that investment in the education of Californians will eventually help California's economy.
1E - I voted Yes because in the shadow of Katrina and all the recent flooding in California it makes sense to be a bit more prepared.
83 - Monotoring people with gps locators, even if they are sexual predators, seems to go against basic American values. It also is a little bit too George Orwell for me. Each GPS device will also cost a pretty penny. Vote no.
84 - This proposition give clean water to several towns in the Central Valley and money to parks. It also gives money to found natural history museums and aquariums focusing on conservation. The parks in Northern California could use some improvement and more staff and encouraging conservation is always good. Vote yes.
85 - Being a young person I don't really believe in forcing young people to tell their parents, even if they are abusive, that they are getting an abortion. Notifying the parents could result in hesitation of the girl or abuse after she gets the procedure.

................... the rest will come

If you have opinions or questions about the guide I have made I would love to hear them. Later.

I am sick of the democrats being called wussies for not wanting to continue letting our troops get killed in Iraq. So in order to illustrate the constrained thoughtful power that the democrats should portray, I propose a new democratic slogan "Vote Democrat, We Know Kung Fu".
